Maicuru forms a circular hill within rocks of the Guyana Shield and is capped with lateritic deposits. On morphological and structural grounds it is considered to be an ultrabasic alkaline intrusion, probably with associated carbonatite. Analyses of laterite give high values for TiO2 (8-30%), Cr and V. An air photograph is given in Araujo et al. (1976, p. 115).

Economic:
Laterites have been investigated chemically (Issler et al. 1975, Tables III-IV).
