The Korongo Hills comprise a sequence of syenitic and granitic intrusions that progressed eastwards with time. The largest unit, at the western end, is a peralkaline quartz syenite. A similar rock occurs at the eastern end between which is a peralkaline granite and a less alkaline syenite. The latter also forms the isolated hills of Jebel Taguli lying to the northeast. A small area of volcanic rocks is present at the eastern margin of the complex.
