Occurrence number:
155-00-026
Country:
Sudan
Region:
Bayuda Desert intrusions
Location:
Longitude: 33.12, Latitude: 19.12
Carbonatite:
No

A dome-like massif of 1.5x3 km this intrusion is bisected by a north-south-trending wrench fault with a horizontal displacement of a kilometre. It consists principally of peralkaline, often porphyritic, syenites which are cut by both north-northwesterly and northeasterly-striking swarms of peralkaline trachyte and porphyritic syenite dykes.

Age:
Four peralkaline syenites and a porphyritic trachyte gave a Rb-Sr isochron age of 165±8 Ma (Barth et al., 1983).
