On the farm Welgevonden there are several low ridges of red fenite traversed by beforsite dykes (Verwoerd, 1993). They are adjacent to a 1-2 km-diameter soil-covered depression that may conceal a carbonatite or related plug-like intrusion. Of thirteen samples analysed the following highest values are noteworthy: Nb 149 ppm, La 2370 ppm and P2O5 4.59%.
