A small area of lavas derived from Nyiragongo lies in northwestern Rwanda to the north of Lake Kivu. These lavas are nephelinites, leucitites and nepheline melilitites. A fuller account of Nyiragongo is given under the Democratic Republic of Congo (No. 038-00-008).
