Some 200 km2 of Precambrian basement rocks are exposed within the Cretaceous sediments of the Benue Trough in the Kaltungo area. The Precambrain rocks are principally of an ‘older’ Pan-African suite but younger arfvedsonite peralkaline granites and microgranites also occur.
