Thin limestone veins and dykes cut across gneisses and amphibolites at this locality. A suite of samples sent to Verwoerd (1993) included ankeritic beforsite from three 45 cm wide dykes. The rock comprises carbonate, pseudomorphs after olivine and biotite, perovskite and magnetite, xenocrysts of K-feldspar and quartz, and chlorite intergrown with fluorite and quartz. Major and trace element chemistry indicates the rocks are carbonatites e.g. 1810 ppm Sr, 328 ppm Ce, 223 ppm Zr and 196 ppm Nb.
