A basaltic field extending 45 km north-south and up to 18 km east-west is depicted on the 1:500,000 geological map (Besairie, 1971b). Few details have been found but Lenoble (1937) refers to nepheline ankaratrites, which may comprise part of the field, and he also mentions olivine and hypersthene basalts. Immediately south of the basalts a syenite body is shown, but again no details have been traced.
