Mount Bollo is built of biotite-amphibole gneisses within which are masses, up to 200 m long, of equigranular gneiss containing quartz, microcline, albite, riebeckite and a little aegirine; there is also a brown amphibole referred to by Koch (1955b and 1959b) as barkevikite.
