Nepheline syenites are grey, medium- to coarse-grained rocks which sometimes have a gneissose texture and consist of nepheline, microcline, plagioclase and biotite. Among accessory minerals zircon, apatite, magnetite, fluorite, pyrite and calcite are present. Secondary minerals are cancrinite, liebenerite and chlorite.
