Intrusive sheets of nephelinite and phonolite are encountered within diabase nappes. The nephelinites contain abundant small nepheline phenocrysts in a groundmass composed of titanaugite, alkali amphibole, magnetite and apatite. In the phonolites the phenocrysts are alkali feldspar and albite. The groundmass has a trachytic texture and consists of thin laths of alkali feldspar, pseudomorphs after nepheline, aegirine and Fe-Ti oxide minerals. The chemical composition of the rocks can be found in Luchitsky (1960).
