Aikel is a symmetrical intrusion of about 14 km2 lying near Lake Aikel. It is composed of subalkaline gabbroids (monzonites and syenodiorites) and syenites. It is traversed by approximately east-west-trending dykes of syenite aplite, syenite pegmatite, nepheline syenite (lujavrite) and leucite absarokite.
