Kolbashinskii is a volcanic field situated in the Kirgiz shield of the northern Tyan-Shan west of lake Issyk-Kul. Leucite-bearing basaltoids form an east-west-trending zone 40-45 km long and 5 km wide. They comprise the so-called "Kolbashinskaya suite" that is divided into three series which, from the base upwards, consists of (1) leucite-bearing basaltoids, including leucite tephrites, (2) alkaline trachytes and (3) tuff-breccias and tuffs of peralkaline trachyte.
