Ailagir lies within upper Silurian limestones and schists and upper Carboniferous biotite-amphibole granites and granosyenites. It is a northeasterly-trending elongate intrusion with steep to vertical contacts composed of coarse-grained porphyritic aegirine-augite syenites.
