This 1x0.1 km pipe is formed of tuff breccias and lamproite. The rock is composed essentially of devitrified glass in which are set phenocrysts of olivine and phlogopite. Small crystals of titanomagnetite (up to 10% TiO2), and isolated grains of armalcolite (70% TiO2), rutile and ilmenite have been identified. Generally the olivine phenocrysts, which comprise up to 40% of the rock, are pseudomorphed by chlorite, mica and other minerals. Details of the mineralogy and rock chemistry can be found in Bogatikov et al., 1991.
