Olivine-diopside ultrabasic lamproites have been discovered in a massif of phlogopite pyroxenites. The lamproites are porphyritic rocks with large (1-2 cm) fresh olivines set in a medium-grained mesostasis of phlogopite admixed with a small amount of diopside. A gradual transition from the Khani lamproite to the intrusive phlogopite pyroxenites can be observed. Such transitions are accompanied by a reduction in the overall amount of olivine concomitant with an increase in the content of diopside.

Age:
K-Ar determinations on phlogopite from lamproite gave 1818±25 and 1870±25 Ma (Bogatikov et al., 1991).
